I leads to great humour indeed, but if you need just comprehension, it's a plague. I myself would prefer less power, if this means less ambiguity. Russian too has ambiguity which leads to great phrases like "sorok sorok" (40 magpies) or "dorogi dorogi" (dear roads) but in these cases there can't be a misunderstanding, especially in spoken Russian, because in both cases the stress is on the first syllable of the first word and the second syllable of the second word.
