You would rarely be able to find a product not manufactured in China. Even those from Japan, USA or Germany are. Some of those mostly say "assembled in X", where X is some country not in China (but lately that is becoming more difficult to find too). Xcore86 not only features rs232, but also ISA. It seems Northtec didn't add it. I'll ask them, unfortunately they use a crappy web form that doesn't support WebKit so I'll need to use it in on other browsers. I'll try Firefox, but I'm afraid it will be IE only (I'll notify it to them too). Aren't there drivers for rs232 to USB adapters for DOS? I'm surprised of it, as those adapters are quite common and usable by practically all Operating Systems supporting USB hardware (even the more obscure ones). Other option is to find about laptops using the RDC IAD chips (http://rdc.com.tw) as they are taiwanese x86 compatible chips (FlexRISC is a cool name they put, probably they use microcode under a RISC design like everyone), and electronics from Taiwan has generally better quality than China ones), so maybe they are also DOS compatible and features rs232 ports. Another future platform would be using the future Loongsoon 3 processors under a minimal hardware abstract compatibility layer that uses those 200 extra instructions for accelerate x86 emulations... |
